| About Us
Location Enderlin is located in picturesque southeastern North Dakota. The townsite was purchased by Edward Pierce, acting as attorney for the Minnesota Land and Trust Company from Eleanor Olson, Ranei Gullickson and Johanna Pierce, and the official plot of the town filed October 7, 1891.
Name There has been much debate on the source of the town name. The myth that it derived from "end of the line" has been exploited, for Valley City, ND was the end of the St. Paul and Sault St. Marie (Soo Line) railroad tracks in 1891. Official Soo Line word is that it was named by Mr. F. D. Underwood, then General Manager, for a name he had seen in an English book he had read. Enderlin is a friendly, progressive, growing community with deep ties to agriculture. Enderlin is home to Northern Sun/ADM, North America's largest sunflower processing plant and a crew-change and yard office for the Canadian Pacific Railway. These two companies, along with the Enderlin Public School System and Maryhill Manor, are the largest employers for the community.
The Great Outdoors Outdoor opportunities are abundant in southeast North Dakota. You can experience incredible pheasant hunting, and deer season is also popular. If you do not mind the water, duck hunting can be amazing--this area has professional guides to help you experience the best. Enderlin is close to the bird superhighway, which is miles of water running north and south; perfect for the flight of migrating birds. With so many water sources, fishing is also plentiful. We are close to Ft. Ransom State Park and the Sheyenne Grasslands for hiking or wood-cutting. In the winter, you could cross-country ski right outside your door, much like many of our Scandinavian ancestors did. And perhaps the best outdoor activity in the area would be swinging golf clubs around the incredible golf course we have. So, if love the great outdoors, you will love being in the Enderlin area.
